No, the festival will not be called off, no matter the weather. The road will still be closed off and the festivities will continue on the day.
The public toilets are located at the back of the James Street Plaza. All hotels are open and access to their toilets is readily available. Additional portaloos will also be accessible on Lindsay Street, including an accessible toilet.
The Beaumont St Carnivale entertainment, shopping and experiences will take place between Tudor and Donald Streets in Hamilton, along with the Gallipoli Club carpark on Beaumont St. Click here to download the map.

This year the Beaumont St Carnivale is proud to have the Ability Links Inclusion Tent on site. The Ability Links Inclusion Tent will be located at James Street Plaza.

Accessible toilets will be available at James Street Plaza, behind Eurobar and the Wesley Uniting Church (11am – 3pm).

A ramp will also be available at the Ability Links Inclusion Tent.

Buses and trains will run their normal Sunday schedules. Please visit Transport NSW to plan your trip with public transport. Please be patient with any delays as a result of increased traffic.


Hamilton Station is located on Beaumont St and, therefore, provides easy access to the Carnivale. For scheduled train times from your nearest station, click here.

Bicycle tracks

There are many cycling tracks in Newcastle, including a clear cycle path from Nobbys Beach and the Newcastle University through to Islington Park (near Throsby Creek), only a short distance from Beaumont St. Click here to see Newcastle’s cycling tracks.

Car & parking

Beaumont St is less than a 10 minute drive from the centre of Newcastle. Beaumont St between Tudor and Donald Streets will be closed for the Carnivale.

Road closures will be in place from 5am until 7pm on Sunday 12 March. Please note immediate side streets in the festival zones will be impacted by road blocks. Limited on-street parking will be available.
